(Pahang), <br>PhD (Harvard)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:90px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"who-we-are\" style=\"color:#0e7c00\"><strong>Who We Are &amp; History<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>PPCS is a non-profit, non-Governmental organization established in year 1995 by a group of dedicated volunteers aimed to provide palliative care services to the patients in need regardless of race, religion and socio-economic status in the state of Perak. The services are provided free-of-charge. We have a dedicated medical team consisting of palliative care-trained doctors and nurses providing professional palliative care services to patients and their family members at a place of their choice, mainly at home setting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are a member of the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.malaysianhospicecouncil.com\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.malaysianhospicecouncil.com\" target=\"_blank\">Malaysian Hospice and Palliative Care Council<\/a>, an umbrella body that represents most hospice and palliative care organizations in the country. The care does not stop when patient passes away but it will include bereavement care for the family.&nbsp; It provides relief from pain, shortness of breath, other common symptoms as well as psycho-spiritual suffering.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal is to improve and maintain quality of life, to prevent and delay functional loss so that the patient can live to the fullness in their remaining life, while maintaining their dignity and autonomy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-text-color\" id=\"who-needs-palliative-care\" style=\"color:#0e7c00\"><strong>Who Needs Palliative Care<\/strong>?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Incurable cancers form the majority of cases requiring palliative care. Other non-cancerous conditions like end-stage organ failure (kidney failure, heart failure, neuro-muscular disorders) would also benefit from palliative care.
